Overview
A full catch-up and clean rebuild of the books for a wholesale food distributor that had fallen a year and a half behind.
The challenge
Atlas came to us with a shoebox of receipts, a bank feed nobody had reconciled since the prior spring, and a loan application due in a month. Revenue looked healthy but no one could say what the margin actually was, and the owner was making pricing decisions blind.
Our approach
We rebuilt the chart of accounts around how the business actually runs, reconciled eighteen months of transactions, and separated the commingled owner and business spending. Then we set up a weekly bookkeeping rhythm and a simple monthly report the owner would actually read.
The outcome
The books closed in three weeks — in time for the loan, which was approved. With real numbers in hand, Atlas repriced its two lowest-margin product lines and recovered four points of gross margin in the following quarter.
